CARNIVAL of CRAFTS
Pierson
Manitoba
Our History...
In 1979, four local ladies (Barb Pettinger, Barb Lee, Joan Trott and Mary Wang) with a common interest in crafts saw a need to raise money to assist with the operational costs of our new arena. They felt that a craft sale was a possibility and with that the first Carnival of Crafts was held.
1979 hosted 48 exhibitors and 1200 visitors. To date, we have 7 ladies and 90 exhibitors with an attendance that varies from 1800 to 2200. The Edward Sports Centre booth is open all day with a wonderful assortment of family friendly food. We offer controlled parking and courtesy rides to the arena.
The Carnival of Crafts had been nominated by the Melita and Area EDC Tourism Committee in the Arts, Culture & Heritage category. Four members attended the Tribute to Tourism Awards & Gala evening in Brandon June 4th, 2008. Even though we did not win, we felt the nomination honored the whole population of the Pierson community for their support over the last 40 years.
